A Short Blog About My Positivity

Hello ninjas of the internet! Bit of a story for you!

So, on my personal facebook i posted a link of Jessie J's song "Who's Laughing Now" and said the following thing:

"Something I will deffo sing when I get somewhere in life to all those people who liked to pick on me in the past ;) yeah, who's laughing now bitches!"

A little smart arse who was a mate of mine named Mike decides to comment going: "what if you get nowhere in life?"

pessimistic, pessimistic, pessimistic!!

Immediately, I thought "don't spread your negativity around me boy". And so this was my reply:
"Well Mike, the answer is everyone goes somewhere in life. It'd be pretty boring if we were in one place ;D and besides, i'm trying my absolute hardest to find my way into a job I wanna get into :) It should all pay off. thinking positive!"

I know the economy and getting a job is very hard at the moment, but does that mean you should live everyday going "nothing's gonna happen for me, might aswell sit on my arse and watch the day go by".

NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOO!

Dudes and dudettes, we live in such a dark world, it needs a bit of colour and optimism.
There are so many people who don't give up until they succeed: olympic athletes, basketball players, directors, even youtubers!

Guys, personally I love thinking positively, i have my moments where i think i'm crap, but rest of the time, I'm pushing my boundaries, I'm trying new things.

Never give up. You will make it, whatever you want to achieve in life. You will get there <3

A Random Ninja's Guide To: YouTube

Hello ninjas of the internet!

So, there are some people I know who have been afraid to start making videos on youtube, just because they will be unsure of what to say and they will be scared no one will like their content.

I've been a video maker for over five years now (counting past accounts and stuff) and over the years I've learnt so many things that I feel will help you out when you begin to make videos.

The first video is always the hardest, and you are bound to get really nervous and feel a bit stupid talking to a camera. This is normal. This is the 'newbie' phase. All you need to do is loosen up, be yourself. If it helps, imagine you are talking to someone you know. But don't be too carefree with your use of words.

DO NOT use copyright music or any copyright material, it's against youtube rules. I have had several strikes in the past and have learnt from my mistakes. If you need music, go to websites like incompetech.com and audionautix.com for royalty free music you can download. But don't forget to give the site credit either at the end of the video, or in the description.

Once your views come in, take some time to get to know your viewers, see what they like about your channel and work from there. Making friends is easy on youtube, if you have friends to stick by you, you will progress :) But don't forget the ones who will help you up will be the ones you will see when you fall right back down. it's good to keep in touch with as many as you can :)

People HATE people spamming links in their inboxes, social network walls etc. So, if you want someone to check out a video, ask politely in a nice and calm way. I didn't create the NOOOOO rap for nothing you know. That's teaching you something!

Be as creative as you want. YouTube has no boundaries (except for the obvious stuff that's against regulations like pornography). YouTube is the oyster, you are the pearl inside, ready to be turned into an earring, or a necklace pendant.

In other words, once you start, people will find you, and you'll grow as a youtuber. When I started OhRandomRebecca in 2009, i had about.... 7 subscribers from my old account? Now, september 2011, I have currently 2,579 subs. Not bad huh?

I'm sure many youtubers agree with me that once you feel the video making buzz, it can be a bit hard to stop :)
If an ordinary girl from the North West can do it, so can you.
Don't be afraid. Make a start. See where you go :)

Any other youtubers got some advice? Was this helpful to any of you?

Nick Vujicic, My Idol.

Hello ninjas of the internet! Prepare to feel more inspired.

So, for those who don't know who Nick Vujicic is, he is a motivator. He was born with no arms, and no legs, but has a foot he calls the "chicken drumstick" :P He tried to commit suicide when he was ten years old because he felt like there was nothing left for him. But he failed to commit and realised he was brought on Earth for a reason.

Since then, he has become a motivator, talking to students in schools across the world telling them that they are perfect in every way and they shouldn't give up.

He is my hero. In a way, he has made me realise that I have a purpose, and there is something special about me. He is my idol, and one day I hope to meet him and tell him he's one amazing person, and he is truly one of my heroes. :)

I cried a little while writing this, he is just amazing.
Below are two videos. One of his motivation work, another is his music video!

The Nightmare That Completely Scared Me

Hello ninjas of the internet!

Now, although i slept pretty well most of last night, i had a nightmare, and it's one i've had several times before, and I wake up a little freaked and paranoid until i realise it was just a nightmare.

Basically this nightmare is about this mysterious youtube user, and this user is out to get me. So, the user's message pops up into my inbox saying i'm going to die, but I choose to ignore it. Then suddenly wherever I go this person appears in my town and follows me, then the person says "you are gonna suffer" in a manly voice. And so he pulls out a knife, and I run as fast as I can through streets he'll get lost in so I can escape home. I arrived home and immediately ran to the back of the house to prevent being seen through the front window (just incase he found my house but wanted to check through the window to make sure). I hid in a dark corner of my kitchen so I could be hidden, then I saw orange flickers of light, I looked up, and this guy set my garden on fire. The flames were spreading towards my house. I ran and bumped into something, it was the killer.

I immediately woke up. My heart was racing and I looked around repetedly in the early hours of this morning.

I am a little scared that i'll have this nightmare again :/

Birmingham Gathering!!

Hi ninjas of the internet. I'm feeling tons better at the moment :) The cold is going, all is well.

So, as it stands I can go to Birmingham next week, however I will need someone to meet up with at the station, and knows their way round the place, and also will walk back to the station with me. I've never been to the main part of Birmingham before, so being on my own walking around the city will be scary so I would love some company. My parents won't let me go if i don't have someone to meet up with :/ so this is kind of important if you guys want me to go.

Anyone who would like to make any arrangements with me, please contact me asap via YouTube, Facebook or Twitter. Or even comment below.

The station I will end up at will be New Street (as far as I'm aware) and will most likely turn up about 10ish-11ish depends on which train tickets I can get.

If you live in Birmingham and definetly know your way around, then it would be extra awesome if you met up with me, because I am like a tourist lolz.

Where Do I Get My Ideas From?

THE FOLLOWING BLOG POST IS ALL ABOUT HOW THE RANDOM NINJA GETS HER CRAZY, UNUSUAL AND HOPEFULLY ENTERTAINING IDEAS!

Hello ninjas of the internet!
So, a lot of you guys have been asking me "Rebecca, where the hell do you get your ideas from?". And so, I thought i'd write this post giving you the insight on how I get my video ideas, and turn them in to sort-of successful videos.

1. My surroundings- Now, a few weeks ago, my friend Aaron called me on skype and introduced me to his friend and they told me they were going to create their first sketch/short video on their special channel but had no idea what to talk about. Immediately I told them this trick that you may be able to use. When I begin to think about videos, I look around the room or place i am in/at. I look around to see if anything catches my eye, and if anything does, a video slowly develops from the littlest things. If you are like me, little things can inspire you. And that is my main trick to video idea creating.

2. Wardrobe of characters- When I created Grace Daring, I was originally looking through my drawers, cupboards for my phone charger, when I found the black hat with the pink stars. I put it on, and looked at myself in the mirror, and began to develop a character. That's when Grace Daring was created, and it was filmed on the same day as the character was created :)

3. Brainstorm. Film. Done.- When it came to my vlogs, I brainstormed subjects I could talk about, and circled the best ones in a different coloured pen. Immediately, I set up my space, film with no script at all and just talk to the camera like i would talk to a normal person - no rehearsal, no set lines, just a conversation...... with a camera.

4. Using life's events as inspiration- ALL Vloggers talk about their lives, therefore clearly everyday life is a stong inspiration to all vloggers across the globe. Perhaps if you had a bit of a fall out with someone, or there is something that annoys you like people not standing up for old ladies on the bus, then talk about it, speak out, it's a free country. I find my college life amusing to talk about sometimes, like in my 52geeksayear video I talked about the 'awkward goodbyes' people tend to have. This has happened to me in college a few times, so talking about it in a video seemed like a good idea.

5. Music helps.... seriously! Before creating the short film Erica, I was listening to music from Audionautix, and the music there just gave me so much inspiration and ideas just seemed to appear in my mind instantly, and I had to create this fast before I lost this idea. So after half an hour filming and a day's worth of editing to make sure there's no continuity errors, Erica was uploaded and reached over 600 views. I call that a success.

So guys, those are my little secrets to my video making.
Did this help you at all? Leave a comment

Until next time ninjas <3

My Summer Summery (see what I did there?) ♥

BEST SUMMER EVER?(so far, yes)

So, my 2011 summer has got to be the best summer I've had so far.

I have been to Egypt (a place I never thought i'd go to) and went into King Tut's tomb (something i'd never thought i'd do, but I did). I rode a quad bike for the first time, swam over a reef full of beautiful fish. I went to my very first youtube gathering and loved every friggin' minute of it.

I met my good friends finally for real and also made friends with a ton of new people. I have had the best late night skype calls with people and possibly the best feedback from my recent videos ever. I am so excited to make new videos and music for you guys!

I had a laugh with my youtube friend Amber in Manchester, and now I hope to organise more mini meet ups, and possibly try to create my own youtube gathering!

I am looking forward to the future now, things are looking up for me and without you guys sticking by me, being so supportive, I don't think I would have continued on youtube. I think I would have quit and just lived a really boring life.

You guys mean the world to me, thanks to each and every one of you for making this summer so awesome. I love you all so much.

Feel free to leave a comment <3

Oh and here is a group photo of the people that mean so much to me:
(From left to right) Chris, Rob, Conor, Vee, Tom, Amber, Tim, Ryan.
And then there's me on the floor ;D

My Time With Amber, And Who Am I?

Hello ninjas of the internet :)
So on Saturday, I went to Manchester to meet up with my lovely friend who I call my twinny, that's Amber. We had such a laugh while we were there. We did several mini challenges, the first was to film in the Apple store in Arndale Centre, which we did (as you may have seen). The second was to buy matching bracelets coz we are like best friends :) We did that too. You'll see more of our mini challenges on her channel and mine. To check out her channel click here

Ok, so now I bet your wondering why i wrote "Who Am I?" in the title. It's because i've been trying to describe myself, my personality and everything, and I have no idea which words would describe me.... so I would love to see what you think about me, what words you'd use :)

So leave a comment below! ♥
